A special GABA tea from An Xi county, Yunnan, China, known for its deep amber liquor, tropical‑fruit sweetness, and warming aftertaste. It is produced using the same nitrogen‑fermentation method as other GABA teas, but crafted to a richer, more full‑bodied profile.
What is GABA?
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the nervous system. It is known to reduce neuronal excitability, producing a calming and anti-anxiety effect. It may also help improve focus and support better sleep.
How is GABA tea produced?
To increase the content of GABA in tea, the traditional oxidation step is carried out in an anaerobic environment — chambers filled with nitrogen. During this process, the glutamic acid naturally present in the tea leaves is converted into GABA, while caffeine and catechin levels remain largely unchanged.
How to prepare:
- Western-style brewing: 2–3 g per 300 ml water at 90°C. Infuse for 3-5 minutes.
- Gongfu-style brewing: 5 g of tea leaves per 100 ml water. First infusion: 40–50 seconds. Second infusion: 20 seconds. Increase the infusion time by 20 seconds for each subsequent infusion.
