This is Jin Xuan taken to another level. Grown at 2200 meters in the Alishan mountain range, this is proper high mountain oolong—the kind Taiwan is famous for.
That elevation makes all the difference. The cool temperatures, constant mist, and slower growth up there concentrate the flavors and give the tea a complexity you just don't get from lower altitude Jin Xuan. The natural creaminess is still front and center, but there's more depth to it—floral notes, a cleaner sweetness, and that distinctive high mountain character that's hard to describe but impossible to miss once you've tasted it.
The liquor is bright and clear with a pale green-gold color. Each sip is smooth and almost thick in texture, with layers of cream, orchid, and fresh mountain air. There's a refreshing quality to it that lighter oolongs from lower elevations don't quite capture. The aftertaste lingers beautifully, leaving your mouth feeling clean and slightly sweet.
This is fresh tea, so you're getting it at its peak. The tightly rolled balls open up into full, vibrant leaves that can easily go 5-7 infusions, each one bringing out something new.
If you want to experience what serious Taiwanese high mountain oolong is all about, this is an excellent place to start.
