Dive into the world of the Japanese tea with this exceptional 2025-harvest Okumidori matcha. Produced in one of Japan’s most distinguished tea-growing areas, Kagoshima, this ceremonial-grade matcha stands out for its superior flavor and vibrant green color.

The Region
Kagoshima is located in the southernmost part of Kyushu Island and is renowned for its high-quality tea, alongside Uji and Shizuoka. The region’s warm southern climate enhances the flavour and aroma of the tea. Although Shizuoka remains Japan’s largest tea producer, Kagoshima is becoming increasingly valued among connoisseurs.

The Cultivar
The Okumidori tea cultivar is relatively new, having been developed in Japan in the 1970s. It is known for its mellow taste, low astringency, and rich green colour.

Shading
Traditionally, ceremonial-grade matcha is shaded for at least three weeks (21 days) before harvest, and this matcha is no exception. A shading period of 25 days for this specific tea increases chlorophyll and antioxidant levels, resulting in an exceptionally flavourful and healthful drink.
